Patient Services Administrator Vacancy

Gillingham Medical Practice is a thriving practice with six GP Partners, providing high quality primary healthcare to a geographically extensive rural population of over 12,800 patients. We are innovative and forward-thinking, and like to work collaboratively with our team and external partners to provide the best possible care to our patients.

Our team of Patient Services Administrators provide a vital first point of contact for our patients. Excellent customer service skills and an empathetic approach are vital for this role. A good working knowledge of IT and proficient keyboard skills are important, as well as the ability to keep calm under pressure. Training will be given on our clinical systems, and we have an established and effective induction process.

We operate a Total Triage model, meaning that the Patient Services team process eConsults and take triage requests over the telephone. They also deal with administrative tasks including scanning correspondence and fulfilling prescription requests. The role offers opportunities for development.

The successful applicant should have the following attributes:

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent Mathematics & English (C or above)
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Flexibility to work shifts (from 0800-1830) and to provide cover for holidays and sickness
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and data security
  • Some experience within a medical environment, and with customer service.
  • The ability to adapt and prioritise according to workload and demand
  • Friendly and approachable, with the ability to work as part of a team and liaise appropriately with other professionals.

Advanced Paramedic Practitioner

Job overview:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Paramedic Practitioner to join our highly respected and friendly practice. Our well-established practice has a committed team and excellent performance against local and national requirements. Gillingham Medical Practice is a two-site PMS practice with six GP Partners, providing high quality primary healthcare to a geographically extensive rural population of over 12,500 patients.

We are seeking an autonomous practitioner working independently and in conjunction with other health care professionals within their professional boundaries to provide care for patients at Gillingham medical Practice. To provide care for the presenting patient from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, including prescribing and evaluation of their care.

Main duties of the job:

The right candidate will be confident in working independently to support GP surgeries. The candidate will be able to assess, examine, diagnose and treat patients or escalate them to a GP appointment, as appropriate. The ability to undertake some home visits is desirable. The candidate will be able to manage varying workloads and be confident to adapt to the changing demands of GP Practice.

Responsible for attending to patients who wish to be seen by a health care professional; diagnosing and treating patients presenting with minor illness seeing and advising people in respect of their continuing medical and nursing needs. These patients will have booked appointments at ten-minute intervals, be a phone call or home visit. There may be a requirement to see extra or emergency patients. The practitioner will need to prioritise and triage the needs of patients accordingly making any necessary referrals for investigations in the appropriate manner.

 

The GP Partners would develop and mentor this role, offering further support and training to the right candidate.

Hours per week by negotiation.

Competitive salary dependent on experience and qualifications. NHS Pension and competitive annual leave allowances.

Care Co-ordinator

Job overview:

An opportunity has arisen to support the Practice with administration, linking the practice and network with the wider health care community, including but not limited to multi- disciplinary teams, social care, community care, pharmacy teams and care homes.

This role is a mixture of administration and care co-ordination supporting the practice and the teams delivering key performance indicators of the Network DES and other key network service areas.

Main duties of the job:

The ideal candidate will work closely with the practice management and admin teams, clinicians, Social Prescribers, Health and Wellbeing Coaches and other wider healthcare colleagues in the co-ordination of multiple services around patients both administratively and with direct patient contact.

 

This is a full time role.

Practice Nurse (Maternity Cover)

An exciting maternity cover opportunity has arisen for a Practice Nurse to join our highly respected and friendly practice on a fixed term basis, for 9-12months, with an immediate start. 

You will need to be a Registered General Nurse, have evidence of continued professional development, work to the NMC Code of Conduct, and ideally have two years’ post-registration experience. Previous GP Practice nurse experience is an advantage but not essential.
 
This is a great opportunity for a qualified and enthusiastic nurse for up to 32 hours per week. We offer a competitive salary with access to the NHS Pension Scheme, as well as a commitment to training and development. Normal shifts will not include weekend working.
