Gillingham Commuknitty Kindnose Day 20.3.21

Gillingham town came together to make a fantastic knitted blanket and heart pompom. It was a fab day and we were overwhelmed by the response from young and old.

4 kindergartens in Gillingham produced lovely banners, residents of nursing homes made squares and pompoms and 149 individuals and families gave their time to knitting and joining us on the day .

At the end of a wonderful day our blanket measured 70m square, and our heart contained 710 beautiful pompoms.

We raised, through red noses and donations  £136 which will be distributed to local groups.

Community Volunteers and Health Champions were present, new volunteers were signed up and there was a feeling of well-being and bonhomie! Lots of positive connections were made.

Comments

‘Just loving this community event. Well done!’

Thanks again for yesterday, and well done to you and Rosie, you did a fantastic job and should be rightly proud of yourselves!

I just have to say, what a brilliant day yesterday. The whole idea was fantastic.

With kindness (lol),

For myself and I’m sure for most people who “ dropped in “ during the day , it was so wonderful to see and speak to people  face to face, and everyone kept to the rules, it was a real tonic.

‘What a great community we have! Well done everyone involved.’

‘Well done everyone it looked amazing’

‘Human kindness, truly heart warming.’

Thank you to

Esther Hussey and Inner wheel ladies – for her tireless list writing and beauty.
