Pharmacy Ordering / Collection Service

Pharmacies offer a prescription collection service from our Practice

Your pharmacy can also order your medication on your behalf. This saves you time and unnecessary visits to the Practice. Please contact the Pharmacy of your choice for more information if you wish to use this service.

We support patients who have elected to use Pharmacy2U or Echo pharmacy to receive their medications through the post, but would ask that you request your prescriptions online, rather than through these companies. Their processes are not integrated into our systems.

About pharmacists

As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:

  • coughs
  • colds
  • sore throats
  • tummy trouble
  • aches and pains

They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.

In Person

Use your prescription counterfoil and clearly mark the items required.

You can place the request in the box provided in our waiting area or through our letterbox after surgery hours.

Housebound Patients

Patients who are truly housebound or suffering from certain disabilities can request prescriptions over the telephone between 3pm and 6pm.

Medication Reviews

Patients are asked to check repeat prescription slips. It will advise them if they need a medication review and will also show any other messages from the surgery.

If you take a regular medication or are used to having an annual blood test, in your birthday month, please complete the “Medication review” template online.

If you are not able to do this, please provide your details to reception. Once a GP has reviewed your medications, they will let you know what else is required, such as blood tests or home blood pressure readings.

If you normally have regular blood tests to support your review, please book these with a Care Navigator.

Questions About Your Prescription

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

When going abroad you can take your NHS medications with you.

Please visit the NHS website for the latest Prescription Charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
